WAAN! Is a continuous performance of ten hours, specially developed for the festival Deventer op Stelten. In this project, a small team of Theater Gajes worked with a group of 25 students from the studies artist and musician of MBO Rijn Ijssel. This educational project culminated in a raw, visual, poetic and musical street theatre performance. In the spring and summer of 2015, a number of students from the Performing Arts courses, namely Artistic Theatre and Artistic Music, created a street theatre performance together with a team of professionals from Theatre Gajes. Two starting points were used. The first starting point was to work with second-hand scenery (machines, large objects, small props) and costumes. Sometimes in our own possession, sometimes on loan from artists in our network. The second starting point was Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. A weighty and dramaturgically very interesting play. It culminated in a crazy world created for hours on end on the Worp in Deventer.
