Welcome to the bacchanal of Aegir!
While you are at your beck and call, feasting on delicious refreshments (courtesy of DAVO) and enjoying live music, you will witness the dinner of the Norse gods: a fraternal gathering of the family of gods. Respectful and harmonious, as you would expect from a family dinner. Right?
What happens when the establishment is challenged by the black sheep that flouts all rules of reasonableness and good decency? All gods have humanity’s best interests at heart. But is there actually such a thing as right and wrong, or does everyone lose their grip on good from time to time?
When the gods argue, they put their own survival at stake and with it the survival of the world as we know it.
LOKI is a location theatre performance by Theatre Gajes in the former library on the Brink in Deventer. It tells the story of the Norse god Loki, blood brother of Odin and, as god of chaos and discord, notorious as a troublemaker. The story takes us to the moment when Aegir, god of the ocean, summons the gods for a feast. When Loki arrives at the feast, it becomes clear to him that he is persona non grata. And then he takes off…
